Mesothelioma law firms

Mesothelioma law firmsMesothelioma is a disease that seems to have sprung from the real estate boom of the 1960s, when asbestos is still used in the construction of homes and commercial buildings.

Asbestos was once considered an element of miracle and protection against fire and insulation wonder. It was soon discovered that the workers died as a result of exposure to asbestos. The first known victim was group of factory workers. In 1970, the Agency for Environmental Protection issued a very strong warning against asbestos.

It is now recommended by regulators that, if the asbestos is in a building, it should be left alone until an asbestos removal firm was called to contain. These companies must be approved by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, a wing of the Ministry of Labour.

Since the announcement of EPA, a whole cottage industry of firms of lawyers dedicated to representing victims of mesothelioma - those who have had chronic exposure to asbestos dust - has emerged. In 2002, 200,000 asbestos-related lawsuits were Jamming the records of the court, at the national level.

It was also recently discovered that asbestos poisoning second generation is a major concern. Children who were exposed to school or at home, are coming down with the disease that is caused only by asbestos fiber. That asbestos dust was introduced as a result of air in the family laundry or clothing that the father was home from work, these cases contribute to the total of 5,000 victims of asbestos (first and second generation) who die of the disease each year.

The mesothelium is a membrane which forms the coating of several body cavities - abdomen (peritoneum), the heart (pericardium) and the safe (thoracal). The disease is sometimes found in the male and female reproductive organs, as well. In mesothelioma, the mucosal cells become abnormal and divide without control or order. They can invade and damage nearby tissues and organs.

Mesothelioma is thought to be very difficult to cure disease. When symptoms are first experienced, and finally presented to treatment facilities, deformed and malignant cells have proliferated and are embedded in the coating, and it is usually too late for treatment to take positive effect.

When shown as a viable alternative, surgery to remove the tumor is usually the preferred option. It was reported that doctors who think they operate on hernias sometimes discover, however, a tumor induced mesothelioma in the groin, which is generally not curative. Simpler procedures include thoracentesis, where fluid accumulation is making it difficult for the patient to breathe. In this treatment, the liquid is removed in the trunk by placing a needle into the chest cavity. This will help the patient to breathe more easily, but does not cure cancer.

It does not seem to be any hope for mesothelioma victims. In cases where the patient is in relatively good health, and the cancer has not spread, curative surgery (as opposed to palliative surgery, which is only intended to improve the quality of life of the patient) will be performed. Such curative surgery for mesothelioma is performed at medical centers across the country, and there are reports of some patients with long-term remission of their disease.

There is even more reason for optimism on the horizon. In Sydney, Australia, in 2002, tests on laboratory mice were conducted in which mice were injected with mesothelioma cells and then treated with drugs immune enhancement, and a chemotherapy drug called coramsine.

The mice continued to recover from mesothelioma ... and indeed developed resistance to tumors that scientists then tried to enter the body of the animal. (The mice rejected the tumors and, therefore, tumors are not able to "take.")

It is believed that this treatment will soon be improved and applied to man.
